Norman Seeff
Mick Jagger, Los Angeles, 1972
Limited Edition Print

Photographed in Los Angeles in 1972 by Norman Seeff, this portrait of Mick Jagger captures the world's greatest frontman in a moment of pure, instinctive performance — one arm raised in a salute that is equal parts command and invitation.

By 1972, the Rolling Stones were at the absolute height of their powers, and Jagger was the defining rock performer of his generation. Seeff, whose studio sessions were known for their psychological depth and collaborative intimacy, was given extraordinary access during one of the most celebrated periods in rock history. His genius was his ability to dissolve the boundary between photographer and subject — creating an environment of such trust and creative freedom that his subjects revealed themselves completely. Jagger, one of the most guarded and self-aware performers in popular music, is here entirely unguarded: present, electric, and utterly himself.

Norman Seeff is one of the defining photographers of American music and culture. His sessions with artists including Johnny Cash, Joni Mitchell, Tina Turner, and Aerosmith produced some of the most recognized images in the history of rock and roll photography. His work with the Rolling Stones belongs in that company.

Available in multiple sizes, unframed, printed on archival paper.
