Seeff, renowned for capturing creative icons including Steve Jobs, Patti Smith, and Tina Turner, brought his signature approach to the session: an environment of psychological intimacy and collaborative energy that drew out something essential and unguarded from his subjects. In Tomlin, he found a subject whose entire career had been built on the refusal to stand still . An artist who had moved from her breakout role on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In in 1969 through landmark recordings, Broadway, film, and animation, always reinventing the form. Her signature work, The Search for Intelligent Life in the Universe, written with Jane Wagner, remains one of the most celebrated one-woman shows in American theatrical history.
