Janis Joplin on her Psychedelic Porsche, 1968
Limited Edition Estate Print
Few images in the history of rock photography capture the spirit of an era as completely as Jim Marshall’s photograph of Janis Joplin seated atop her legendary 1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet — hand-painted in a swirling psychedelic mural by her roadie Dave Richards. The car, like Joplin herself, was one of a kind: exuberant, colorful, and utterly impossible to ignore.
Marshall’s photograph of Joplin with her Porsche is one of the most beloved and reproduced images in his entire body of work — a portrait that captures her free-spirited personality, her love of beauty and excess, and the joyful defiance that made her one of the defining voices of the 1960s. It is an image of pure pleasure, made by a photographer who understood his subject completely.
Printed on premium cotton archival paper to museum-grade standards, this estate print preserves the warmth, color, and vitality of Marshall’s original with exceptional fidelity.
Available in multiple sizes, unframed or framed in your choice of black or white, with matted or straight-fit options to suit any interior.
