Norman Seeff — Ike & Tina Turner, Los Angeles, 1975 “The Kiss”
Limited Edition Fine Art Photography

Norman Seeff is one of the most celebrated portrait photographers of the twentieth century. Born in South Africa and based in Los Angeles, he spent decades creating some of the most iconic images in the history of popular culture — from the Rolling Stones and Tina Turner to Steve Jobs and Joni Mitchell — with a distinctive approach that emphasized spontaneity, energy, and the revelation of authentic character. His studio sessions were legendary: part performance, part collaboration, always in pursuit of the moment when the mask came off.

Ike & Tina Turner, Los Angeles, 1975 “The Kiss” is a photograph of extraordinary complexity — an image of intimacy between two people whose relationship contained multitudes, photographed in the last years before Tina Turner's departure and her subsequent reinvention as one of the greatest solo artists in rock history. Seeff captures the moment with his characteristic directness, neither sentimentalizing nor editorializing. What the image shows is what it shows: two performers, a kiss, and the camera's unflinching eye.
