Michele Benzamin-Miki is an artist, meditation teacher, and visual dream journalist whose work emerges from five decades of contemplative practice. Her drawings and paintings explore the liminal territories between dreaming and waking, the unconscious and the conscious, the human and the luminous. Working in pencil, colored pencil, sumi ink, and colored inks, she creates images of extraordinary psychological and spiritual depth — works that function simultaneously as art objects and as records of an inner life of rare richness and discipline.

Flow is a sumi ink and pencil work on paper, framed, from 2013. The artist writes:

“A dream I had more than two decades ago revealed what my art would look like in the future. When I awoke from this dream I was not able to recall the artwork seen in the dream until years later, when I recognized that the integration of the two styles of brush art with the figurative realism in this painting ‘Flow’ was the beginning of my work in the future. I continue to integrate both styles and the dream continues to unfold.”
