David Coverdale had built his own formidable legacy as the voice of Whitesnake, one of the biggest hard rock acts of the 1980s. Their collaboration, the album Coverdale•Page, released in 1993, drew inevitable comparisons to Led Zeppelin and generated significant commercial success, particularly in Japan, where it debuted at number one.

Seeff, whose sessions were known for their psychological depth and collaborative intimacy, brought his signature approach to this encounter — finding in the dynamic between two strong creative personalities the same charged energy he had captured in decades of sessions with the greatest artists in American and British music.
