New wave rock band co-founded by singer Debbie harry and guitarist Chris stein. They were pioneers on the American punk and new wave scene of the mid-1070's in New York. While they began as underground artists, the group has received worldwide recognition, has sold 40 million records and was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 2006.
