I entered her apartment with only my rolleiflex and some film. The photograph you see was taken in her bathroom. I spent hours photographing this mesmerizing scene. Mind blowing as this grand piano was, set directly under the bridge, completely water logged and supposedly washed ashore, I knew I had to reach out to my friend, Misty Copeland. She would be the perfect muse for such a scene and story. Misty agreed immediately and showed up at sunrise the following morning prior to her all-day rehearsal at ABT. This became a unique portrait of the power, grace, beauty and absolute brilliance of Misty Copeland. I will always be grateful for Misty's generosity and artistry as she created such a memorable morning. After months of conversations with Central Parks Conservancy, we were allowed to build an underwater scaffolding. Our stage was an 8' x 8' sheet of plexiglass 1\/8th\" below the waterline.
